Magazine Front Covers

LO - to identify the features on a magazine front cover; to explore genre codes & conventions

Masthead - name of magazine (on the top of the magazine gives a title)

dateline - The date of which the magazine was made 

main image - An image of what the magazine is about

cover lines - advertises a story on the inside of the magazine 

main cover line - tells you a title about the story being portrayed of the front cover of the magazine 

bar code/price - so you can purchase the magazine and see the price (often found on the back or front of the magazine)

tagline / strapline - a slogan, tells you a bit more about the magazine  

pull quote - A quote taken from the article and put on the cover to attract the audience
